Integrated Logistics
We have developed a business model which can contribute to increase our customer’s competitiveness and cut their costs. Costs that might arise because the information between the different sections of a transport didn’t work. Those sections are parts of a chain that aren’t attached to each other normally. But, if using our business model the customer receives an unbroken physical transport chain and a parallel chain of information. The business model is named Österströms Logistics and offers integrated logistics solutions services which include industrial maritime transport services, terminal operation, cargo handling, warehousing, intermediate storage and IT-services - all this adjusted to the market situation. In order to be in command of and generate confidence in this transport chain, we are represented with local expertise through seven of our own companies in northern Europe and we run are own terminals in geographically key regions. Together with the customer’s we develop the business models further to create tailor-made solutions, adjusted to the customers needs.
Österströms’ integrated logistics solutions are comparable to a One-stop shop where the customer has a single contact person. The person assumes responsibility in turn for the customer’s entire logistics flow from shipment of raw materials to delivery of finished product to the end customer.
Our coordinated IT-system is vital component part of our integrated logistics. By reading and identifying barcodes, this support system is able to monitor the location of each individual goods item in the logistics chain and when it is estimated to reach the end customer. The customer has the option of following the movement of the goods by computer. Similar systems have been in use previously for land shipments but are infrequent in combination with industrial maritime transport.
